The Adafruit KB2040 (Kee Boar) is a compact, high-performance RP2040-based development board designed specifically for mechanical keyboard (keeb) builds. With the same size and near-identical pinout as the classic Arduino Pro Micro, KB2040 makes upgrading to a modern microcontroller effortless—no adapter plates required.
Powered by the RP2040 dual-core ARM Cortex-M0+ processor, the KB2040 delivers excellent performance for keyboard scanning, RGB lighting, macros, and custom firmware. It is fully compatible with CircuitPython, MicroPython, and QMK, making it a favorite choice for both beginners and advanced keyboard builders in Egypt.
This board combines the best features from popular keeb controllers: castellated pads, USB Type-C, STEMMA QT / Qwiic connector, 8MB QSPI Flash, and an onboard NeoPixel LED. With 20 usable GPIO pins, it can easily handle large key matrices such as 65% layouts (5×15) or up to 100 keys.
Designed on a compact 2-layer PCB, the KB2040 is ideal for space-constrained keyboard cases. The RAW power output and optional fuse bypass allow high-current RGB LED setups, while the Boot button doubles as a programmable input for custom functionality.
